"Rodgers & Hammerstein's South Pacific" is based on James Michener's Pulitzer Prize-winning collection of stories, "Tales of the South Pacific." With music by Richard Rodgers, lyrics by Oscar Hammerstein II and a book by Hammerstein and Joshua Logan, "South Pacific" premiered in 1949, winning the Pulitzer Prize and nine Tony Awards, including Best Musical. |
